Annual view: select All year in the Month list to sum all available months of the selected year. 2025 includes January–December. 2026 currently includes January–September only; missing months are not estimated. The map, totals, categories and selected-municipality values all use these sums. Municipality coverage counts each municipality once during the period.

Annual comparisons: compare the same included calendar months of the previous year. For January–September 2026, the comparison is January–September 2025. No comparison is shown when those previous-year months are unavailable. The monthly chart highlights the months included in the total; clicking a bar returns to monthly view. The timeline navigates years in annual view.

Annual colours: annual view uses separate fixed thresholds, with the monthly non-zero class upper bounds multiplied by 12. Monthly thresholds are unchanged. Annual totals are actual sums, including for an incomplete year.

Shelling and strikes: ACLED events classified as Shelling/artillery/missile attack or Air/drone strike. Other combat event types are excluded.

Infrastructure: event tags for Education, Energy, Health and Residential infrastructure. An event may carry several tags. Category totals do not represent unique buildings or unique events.

Coverage: all 1,439 municipalities in the database, including occupied municipalities. Events outside municipality polygons are excluded. Totals may differ from reports covering only non-occupied municipalities. Zero means no matching records in this database; it does not confirm the absence of attacks.

Comparability: all months use the same source versions. Colour thresholds are fixed for each indicator. Previously published figures may differ following source revisions.

Frontline snapshot: the red outline of occupied-area polygons archived from DeepState by cyterat/deepstate-map-data. Monthly view follows the selected month. Annual view shows the snapshot for the last available month of that year: 31 December 2025 or 30 September 2026. It does not combine the year's territorial changes. The layer is enabled by default; use the checkbox to hide it. On narrow screens the checkbox and colour scale are under Map legend & layers.

Snapshot selection: the last available update within each month, normally the final calendar day. March 2025 uses 30 March because no 31 March file is available. The actual snapshot date is displayed. Snapshots show the situation on that date, not the full month's movement.

Interpretation: the red outline is the boundary of the source's occupied-area polygons. It also includes coastal and international-border segments; it is not a separately surveyed combat line. Municipality event totals and colour thresholds are independent of this overlay.

Names: municipality, oblast and raion names are transliterated from the Ukrainian source labels.
